A natural leader

Let’s take a glimpse into Miriam

We see a little glimpse here in exodus 2:4-10 15:20-21 and numbers 12:1-15 and 20:1 ready let’s dive in

Okay what do we perceive when we see her ? Miriam Moses’ older sister . She was a natural born leader from her earliest appearance in scripture watching her brother Moses , she knew what to do immediately .

Later she became a leader of the people of Israel .

Leadership is a gift from God that can’t be accomplished or acquired , but a gift from above a gift from God for his purpose and plans not ours . We’re to honor the gift He gives us .

Her positive family background prepared her for leader ship her life experiences shape those leader ship skills her brothers Aaron and Moses were role models of leader ship.

Who are we being influenced by in our lives who is preparing our background for leader ship?

Exodus 15:21 sing to the Lord for he has triumphed gloriously the horse and it’s rider he has thrown into the sea .

dentifies her a prophetess and a sister of Arron Miriam led the Israelites women in singing a song of victory identifies her a prophetess and a sister of Arron Miram led the Israelites women in singing a song of victory.

Somewhere along the way her leadership got faltered , was getting hazy due to things she let effect her . Her words changed it all

We’re to be carful and mindful how we influence especially when we’re in leadership roles, it’s scared thing to handle peoples hearts . It comes with great responsibly .

numbers 12:1-15 she condemned the ancestry of Moses his wife she was criticizing she spoke out her opinion and was found out, when we are in leader ship we are to be careful how we speak how we act because someone is always watching listening to our words we might be the cause to influence someone to feel the same way about what we feel.

God became angry about Miriam‘s faltering she condemned the ancestry of Moses his wife she was criticizing she spoke out her opinion and was found out, when we are in leader ship we are to be careful how we speak how we act because someone is always watching listening to our words we might be the cause to influence someone to feel the same way about what we feel .

Miriam was entitled to her opinion yes , but we’re better left unsaid because she was a leader . She spoke negatively about Moses , others might have followed .

She was punished for her actions God punished her for her treatment against Moses. For seven days her skin became diseased with leprosy she was kicked out of the camp for her actions.

We mess up yes! But thats not the end , God is faithful and forgives us , we must admit it and be willing to change , be restored get back on the right path, remember what it’s all about , the reason , the why , all for God and His glory

We do know she died after roaming the wildness with the Israelites for 40 years . Miriam did not reach the promise land numbers 20:1

The woman with natural leader ship abilities , she fell short of her goal didn’t make it to the promised land, we see in

Micah 6:4 I brought you up from the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the place of slavery I sent Moses, Arron, and Miriam ahead of you.

No matter her mess up , her fall God redeemed and restored her . the Lords words indicate that Miram was a leader in his eyes no matter what happened in the process along the way through the journey.

We must learn that the eyes and ears of God are everywhere in the heat of her rent she’s not thinking about this at all !

but the text says “and God heard it “ numbers 12:2

a position of power does not push us beyond the reach of God . God is everywhere and sees and hears everything when we fail to demonstrate what we know we may find ourselves shut out of the circles of influence for a season.

Regardless of Moses his choice in his life , Moses was Gods choice, he must be respected it wasn’t Miriams place to challenge that, sometimes we disagree with our leaders but there’s a way to engage in healthy dialogue about what we’re feeling remember we’re all co laborers for Christ

She was restored to the community after being reminded of the power of her influence and how she must be more responsible with it.

Can you see the lesson in the mess up that’s where we learn and we grow were changed in the process .

Thank God we can recover and move past or mistakes and be remembered for who we are , not simply what we’ve done!
